BassOrder

Terms of use

Last updated · 25 August 2026

By downloading, installing, or using BassOrder (app, site, api.bassorder.smegg.cloud), you accept these terms. If you disagree, do not use the software or the hosted API.

1. Purpose

BassOrder is an open-source tool — from trash playlists to genre mastery — to help classify music by genre (Spotify playlists / likes and local file libraries). It is not a streaming service or a social network.

2. Open-source license

The code is published under the MIT license. You may use, modify, and redistribute it provided you include the copyright notice and license. The MIT license governs the code; these terms mainly frame use of the site, binaries distributed on bassorder.smegg.cloud, and the optional public API.

3. “As is” — no warranty

The software and related services are provided “AS IS”, without warranty of any kind — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of detected genres, continuous API availability, or freedom from bugs.

In particular: a wrong genre, a misclassified file, a cloud outage, or a Spotify incompatibility does not constitute a failure engaging the maintainer's liability beyond what mandatory law requires.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Spotify & trademarks

BassOrder is not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with Spotify AB. “Spotify” and related logos are trademarks of their owners. Access to the Spotify API depends on your account and Spotify rules, which may change or be revoked.

6. Optional cloud API

The public instance may be limited, modified, or stopped without notice (personal project). You can self-host via the server/ folder in the repository. No SLA (uptime, 24/7 support) is promised.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Eliot GIRAUD and contributors shall not be liable for indirect damages, data loss, lost profits, or harm arising from use of or inability to use BassOrder — including file operations triggered by the user.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be limited by law (e.g. intentional misconduct, mandatory consumer law).

8. Contributions

By submitting a contribution (pull request, patch), you confirm you have the right to submit it and accept it under the same MIT license, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Failing amicable resolution, competent French courts may be seized — subject to mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply to you.

These terms govern use of the BassOrder site and cloud service provided by the publisher. Any redistribution, commercial use, or hosting of a separate instance is done solely under the user's responsibility, in compliance with the MIT license and applicable law.
